November 14, 2014. Our adventure begins!

Meredith and I left Ann Arbor on Amtrak for Chicago.  Amtrak was such a great experience.  

We lucked out by getting the front row with extra room for our luggage and legs.  We took a picnic lunch of wine and cheese.  Very luxurious.  People were so nice, helping with bags, etc

Along the way, we stopped in cities to pick up more people.  We went through a snowstorm

We arrived at Union Station in Chicago around 5:00, just in time  for rush hour.  We stood in the station, trying to figure out where to go.  A nice lady came up to us and helped us.  Then, we walked 2 blocks to the L.  There wasn't an escalator, so we had to negotiate stairs to get to the L.  Two men approached us and offered to carry the bags for us.  Then, others helped us through the turn-stall.  We got on the L, went to o'Hare, then took hotel shuttle to the hotel.  We met George there, and had a relaxing dinner in the hotel restaurant
