WEATHER: Perfect! Sunny. Highs in upper 60s
We are very close to the Mexican border, so decided to go there for an adventure. The town is called Naca, on both sides.
We walked across without any issue. We saw an office called Immigration, so went in. The guard was very confused. That office is only to apply for a work visa or long-term stay. Otherwise, people just cross without any paperwork.
There is not much to the town, other than dentist offices and pharmacies. U.S. folks living nearby go across for cheap dental work and to get prescriptions filled.
Being a border town, I was surprised how few people speak English.
We found this great restaurant and ordered tacos asados and tacos al pastor. (They were out of tripe and tongue.). The tacos came with a beautiful assortment of condiments....lime avocado, pico de gallo, cucumbers, picked jalapeños and sauces.
It was a mom and pop kind of restaurant. The owner cooked the meat in front of us.
Then, Grandma checked us out. Again, everything was in Spanish only.....although they were happy to accept either dollars or pesos. :-)
We stopped at a dentist's office, and George made an appointment for a teeth-cleaning later this week.
The crossing back to the USA was almost as easy. They just made sure we weren't bringing in citrus or lots of cigarettes.
DINNER: I made chicken tandoori for a potluck in the rec room at the RV park. George had problems getting the charcoal going in time for the potluck, so I had to cook the chicken inside. People seemed to like it.
