June 13, 2015. On to Washington

CAMPHROUND:  Twin Rocks State Park. Two sections...one mostly for tents near the ocean, and one inland with nice shade trees and privacy.  Decent bathroom with coin showers. Grill and picnic tables.  We chose no hook-ups ($10 extra).  3 stars. $30/night
LOCATION:  Westport, WA on coast west of Aberdeen.  SW Washington
WEATHER:  Sunny and cool. Highs around 60

We took some hikes at Fort Stephens Park, and then packed up.  We had to cross the Columbia River from Oregon to Washington on this high bridge.  I missed most of it as my eyes were squeezed shut!

We drove though cute fishing villages nestled in bays.  Our friends from Nova Scotia had recommended Westport, so that was our destination, only about a 100 mile drive.  Unfortunately the RV park they had stayed in last year, right in the marina, and recommended, has been bulldozed down.  So, we stayed in a state park right outside of town.  We took a hike in the park down to the beach.

This is cranberry bog country.  I had no idea.  This winery (wine from cranberries) and brewery were conveniently right across the road from our campground!  We had a beer on their patio.  The strings are to guide the hops that are growing up on them.

Brewpubs seem to have interesting bathrooms.  One the other day had signs "women and/or men".  This one had Hops and Barley signs.

I stood around until a guy came out of the Hops room.....that was my clue to enter the Barley one.  :-)
Later, we asked the bartender.  He said the idea is hops are bitter, like men and Barkey is sweet, like women.  However, he said that things are getting more confusing.  With more drinkers knowledgeable about beer-making, they know that hop cones are female, thus creating mayhem in the bathrooms!

DINNER:  I made an orzo salad from a recipe I found.  I thought it was time to have a meatless meal.  It was with celery, radishes, green onions, and dill, with a vinaigrette dressing.  I topped it with goat cheese.  Only problem is that it made way too much.  It will definitely be a lunch item later this week.  I want to buy some Dungeness crab for a meal soon.
