WEATHER: Rain and warm on Sunshine Coast. Cool and clear in Melbourne
We said goodbye to the cat and fish at our housesitting assignment in Mooloolah. It has been great.
Our homeowners kindly drove us to the Sunshine Coast airport, about 20 miles from their house. The airport is about 90 miles north of Brisbane. The Sunshine Coast is not living up to its name today. It really began to pour as we watched passengers disembark from their airplanes.
Our flight was delayed 2 hours due to the rain, so we had a nice lunch in the airport lounge, a yummy cheeseboard.
Then, a 2-hour flight to Melbourne.
We were actually in Melbourne once before, in early February, and spent the night here before taking the ferry to Tasmania. So, we are a little familiar with the city. We took a bus from the airport to the city, where we caught a city train to the area where we are staying. It is a great location, full of shops and restaurants. George had found this hotel on Hotels.com, and we got a great deal. It is a fully-equipped deluxe apartment.
Everyone is talking about the cold weather here. Some people are wearing winter coats. It is winter here, but not cold to us....highs about 60 and lows in 40s.
DINNER: Take-away ramen and eel yakitori from a nearby Japanese restaurant. We ate it in front of the TV in our our apartment while watching our favorite British comedies
Welcome to Victoria! A & L xx
