WEATHER: Beautiful. High in Portland 75. Foggy and cool on coast
We had a telephone interview with a potential house-sitting assignment. They selected us and we will be spending 2 weeks on beautiful Bainbridge Island around Thanksgiving. Our plan is to finish here in early November, pick up the Airstream, camp along the Oregon and Washington coast, then a week or so in Vancouver Island. Then, on to Bainbridge. We will finish there on December 1, then head south to Baja California until we fly to New Zealand at the end of January. We visited Bainbridge Island this summer, and really liked it. It is across the bay from Seattle.
Today was plant-watering day here. The homeowners have quite a few beautiful house-plants and flowers on the deck. I hope I don't kill them while they are gone!
Then, we headed out for another little day trip, this time west to the coast. We ate lunch at a McMenamins pub in Lincoln City. We ate clam chowder and crab soup free, thanks to our "passport".
After driving along the coast a bit, we headed back inland. We stopped at 2 wineries for tasting in the Williamette Valley. First was Sokol Blosser, famous for their Pinot Noirs. The tasting room is beautiful.
We sat outside and enjoyed the view.
Next stop was Argyle Winery. They just finished this elegant, modern tasting room.
Back home, we played with Lola.
DINNER: Kuku, an Iranian omelette with lots of middle eastern spices and cauliflower. A recipe I got from a The Splendid Table. Really good and different.
Sunny and warm in Portland? You do have the luck! Congrats on the Washington house-sit. Any more in Aus/NZ?
