June 10, 2015. Southern Oregon friends

CAMPGROUND:  In a friend's driveway
LOCATION:  Mapleton, Oregon in southwest Oregon
WEATHER: Beautiful.  Highs in 70s

We left Crater Lake and drove about 150 miles toward the coast.  Most of the drive was through national forests, with tall pine  trees along rushing rivers.  It is a designated Oregon scenic byway.  Beautiful!

Our destination was Mapleton, halfway between Eugene and Florence.  George has a friend with property here.  We parked our camper in the driveway.  They have graciously offered to let us store the Airstream here when we go to the Midwest and for when we are house-sitting.  We wanted to stop here to make sure the Airstream would fit ok.

The house is on the Siuslaw River.

This area is fill of wild foxgloves.  (Thanks to my brother for identifying them for me)

We relaxed on the deck before dinner.

The hosts have 2 gigantic Great Danes.

We drove into Florence, a cute seaside village for dinner.  Nice evening. We will head out tomorrow and plan on returning here in a few weeks to store the Airstream.
