June 7, 2015. Fabulous trees and flowers on Redwood Coast

CAMPGROUND:  3rd night at Mill Creek State Park inside Redwood National Park
LOCATION:  Near Crescent City, in far Northern California, near Pacific Ocean
WEATHER:  highs in 60s on coast

George does most of the driving, but I sometimes help out.  It seems that something scary happens whenever I do, like seeing a sign saying. ."Gusty winds next 10 miles; RVs and trucks take precaution".  Well, today it was pea soup fog rolling in from the ocean as I drove the coastal road.  Couldn't see much.  It mostly lifted during the day.

We spent the day enjoying Mother Nature.  We took several hikes on trails through the old-growth redwoods.  We had a picnic at this park called "Big Tree".

The flowers and ferns love it here.  Wild irises...

Wild roses along the coast...

Wild rhododendron blooming everywhere, often next to the redwoods

And this beautiful flower for which I have no name...

We hiked through Lady Bird Johnson Redwood Grove.  She helped with a lot of the preservation. We took a gravel road scenic route along the coast.  Beautiful!

We saw more elk along the highway.

Back at the campground, we relaxed around a fire.

DINNER:  Beans and rice with bits of sausage.  Avocado slices on the side.
