December 6, 2015. Breath-taking Pacific Coast Highway

CAMPGROUND:  Morro Beach State Park.  Hook-up area full.  Dry-camped.  Good bathrooms.  Marina, beautiful view. Dump station. $35/night.  $50/ night with hook-ups. 3 stars.  Would be 4 stars, but all California state parks seem overpriced
LOCATION:  Morro Beach, California.  Central coast. Near San Luis Obispo
WEATHER:  Sunny and warm. Highs in upper 60s

We said good-bye to our friends in San Mateo and hit the road.  We picked up Highway 1, the famous Pacific Coast Highway, at Monterrey.  We drove  about 100 miles on the winding highway that hugs the coast.  Gorgeous views, and not much traffic.

We stopped for lunch in Big Sur, famous for its ruggedness and for its meditation resorts for the rich and famous.

Along the way we saw elephant seeks snoozing on the beach

Our friends had recommended this campground.  We arrived just in time to watch a beautiful sunset.

We think we will spend a second night here, as it is so nice.  Explore nearby San Luis Obispo tomorrow.  It is monarch butterfly migration time, so we hope to see lots tomorrow.

DINNER:  Chili with leftover tortillas.  I added hamburger that George had grilled in Bainbridge.  When will we finish all that?
