May 7, 2015. Black Canyon and morels!

CAMPGROUND: Another night at 4J RV Park
LOCATION:  Ouray, Colorado in south central Colorado
WEATHER: Mostly sunny. Highs around 60

Our campsite is directly next to the Ouray River.  It is pretty full right now, due to the rain and snow melt.  This is the view from our back window.

And this is the view from our picnic table

George worked on the top of the Airstream, checking on the source of our leak.

We took a day trip about 50 miles away to Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park.  The dramatic canyon rim is awesome.  We took the park's drive along the rim.

Back in Ouray, we saw a sign in front of a shop advertising morels.  We checked them out and decided to buy some, even though they are expensive.  The morels here are blacker than the ones we found in the Midwest.

DINNER:  A real gourmet treat!  George grilled a flank steak.  I sautéed the morels in butter.  Side dish was Caesar salad and baked potato.  We opened the Colorado Cabernet Franc we had bought at the winery last week.  Wow!

  1. I am jealous of your morels! It has been too dry here, I haven't had any this year. Enjoy! They are really good with pasta too. The simpler, the better I have found.
