Day 332. July 4, 2014. On through the Yukon!

LOCATION:  On the Alaska Highway through Northern British Columbia and southern Yukon.
WEATHER:  Rain the entire day.  Cold...highs around 50

George took another dip in the Laird Hot Springs, then we hit the road.  It drizzled, then rained absolutely the entire day.  So, we decided to keep on driving.  Along the way, we saw lots of wildlife:   2 grizzlies, 3 black bear, a mountain lion, 2 foxes, one with a fresh-caught bird in his mouth, and TONS  (haha) of woodland bison.

In the town of Watson Lake, there is a tradition that tourists put up sign posts.  There are 50,000+ of these.
All along the way, we followed beautiful rivers and lakes

Wildflowers are also at their peak.

We drove all the way to Whitehorse, about 9 hours.  This is the capital of the Yukon.  We pulled into a commercial campground late, and got one of their last sites.  We squeezed into this space, although I thought we would slide down the hill!

DINNER:  I had planned to have the rest of the lamb, grilled outside, but it was raining too much to make a fire.  So instead, I threw together an omelette with dibs and dabs that needed to be eaten.....bacon, a half baked potato, fresh spinach stems chopped fine, onion, mushroom slices, and leftover grilled turkey thigh.  Nice warm meal on a dreary night.

The camper next to us is on a motorcycle.  He must be miserable.  Cold and wet clothes, then in a cold and damp small tent.  We turned on our heater and were nice and toasty.  Kind of embarrassing!
