November 21, 2014. Adventures in Jabalpur. Part 1

What a great day!  We started with a delicious Indian breakfast bar at the hotel.  I had bean sprouts and lentil sprouts with a spicy chutney.  The chef was there to make dosas (like crepes) upon request.

Our van  and driver picked us up for the day's adventures.  First, we went to Birga Dam, one of India's largest.  There is a nice lake and tourist area there.  This lady was selling a unique fruit called custard  apple at the entrance.

George wandered off, as usual, and found this lean-to where a man was cooking a soup over a fire, and another was selling samosas (kind of a potato/veg fritter).

This is a rural area, and we passed lots of farms along the way.  Unlike Hyderabad and Mumbai, English is not too common.  Most signs are just in Hindi.

We went to some waterfalls.  It was popular amongIndian tourists.  Two families came up to us and in sign language asked to take family photos with Meredith and me.  Giggling girls approached us and timidly asked us where we are from.

We had lunch on the lawn at a resort near the lake.  It seemed very British.  We had spicy boiled peanuts and spinach/paneer.

For more photos, see next post.
