October 1, 2015. Day trip to Edgefield

LOCATION:  House-sitting in Portland, Oregon
WEATHER:  Warm and sunny. High around 80

After doing some yard work in the morning, we took a trip to Edgefield, another one of the McMenamins' destinations.  It was formerly the county poorhouse.  About 25 miles east of Portland.

It is a 74-acre complex.

We had lunch in their pub/theatre, then strolled around, getting our McMenemins passports stamped at their many shops, restaurants and bars. They grow many of their own vegetables.

Our passport endeavors are paying off.  We got a $20 gift card and a gift pack.  We stopped at the winery, where they had just picked the grapes and were starting the fermentation process.

We bought a bottle of their wine after going on the winery tour.

Our last stop was the the Little Red Shed, the former poor house's incinerator that is now a tiny pub.

DINNER:  Spaghetti with Italian sausage.  I had made the sauce when we were at the farm in California, so it was full of vegetable and herbs.
