December 1, 2015. On the road again....

CAMPGROUND:  Emerald Valley RV park.  This is one of those RV parks that you see from the highway and wonder why anyone would stay there.  However, it fit the bill just fine for us as we just wanted someplace safe and clean for a quick overnight stay. Very nice bathroom and shower.  Full hook-ups. Nice office people.  $31 with Good Sam's discount. 4 stars
LOCATION:  Near Salem, Oregon.  South of Portland
WEATHER:  Cloudy, then drizzle.  Highs in 40s

We said a fond good-bye to our homeowner in Bainbridge Island.  He was happy to see his cat Marley again.  After breakfast, we hit the road.  We followed Interstate 5 almost all day.  This is what we saw...
When we got to Portland mid-day, we decided to go directly through the city, rather than the bypass.  The traffic wasn't too bad, although I did almost wear a hole in the floor of the passenger seat floor stomping on an imaginary brake :)

We stopped at a McMenamins pub (of course) for lunch once we got to the southern Portland suburbs.

We stopped here near Salem for the night when George got tired of driving,  250 miles.

We started planning our drive for tomorrow.  We have to drive through the Siskiyou Mountains and some other high elevation areas.  When we checked the weather forecast, we saw that a "high wind" warning with gusts up to 70 mph is  predicted for southern Oregon and Northern California.  So, we hope to get an early start and get through it before it gets worse later in the day.

DINNER:  Not too exciting.  Leftover seafood chowder and sautéed cabbage.
