December 24, 2015. Move to the beach in Baja

CAMPGROUND:  Baja Sunrise RV park.  Opened a few days ago.  Rating of 5 for magnificent location, but not so good for services.  The owner first said there are bathrooms, but now says they aren't ready yet.  Full hook-ups, though the water quit working.  Wifi.  We are the 3rd campers here.  No shade, but cool breezes.  4 stars. $24/night.  Right on the beach, outside of town, so much quieter.
LOCATION:  1 mile south of Los Barriles, on SE coast of Baja, Mexico
WEATHER:  Sunny and hot. Highs in 80s

We packed up from Martin Verdugo's RV park.  George befriended the old gardener there.  They had meaningful conversations in Spanish!  Not!

The name of the town of Los Barriles means The Barrels.  Would be interesting to know how it got its name.

We thought we would try out this RV park for a few days.  You can't beat the location!  It is just a mile south of town, off the main highway, right on the beachfront.  Our airstream is in the front row, along the beach wall.  Only 2 other RVs here.

Our neighbors are a delightful French-Canadian couple.  We sat outside, watching the sunset over the water,  and had cocktails with them.

The full moon reflecting on the Sea of Cortez was really special.

DINNER:  Shrimp and grits.  I needed to use up the rest of the shrimp I had bought the other day.  I found a new recipe online.  First, I sautéed onions, garlic, green peppers, and added bacon.  Meanwhile, I made grits, using  chicken broth I had made.  The recipe called for cheddar cheese, but I improvised with a Mexican cheese.  Then, added the shrimp to the veg/bacon mix to cook only a few minutes.  Then, mixed everything together.  I zapped it in the microwave to melt the cheese.  Great Christmas Eve dinner!

We listened to some Christmas music on the iPad and got nostalgic about Chrustmas past.
