March 15, 2016. Indulging at a Tasmanian winery

LOCATION:  House-sitting in Latrobe, Tasmania, Australia
WEATHER:  beautiful. Highs in 60s

It was cooler this morning, so our walk with the doggies was brisk.

We picked more tomatoes and beans, then took off for our outing.  We drove the owners' campervan, as they want us to charge up the battery periodically.  As in New Zealand, the steering wheels are on the right, and people drive on the left.  This van has a 5-gear stick shift, so George had to change gears with his left hand.  He  did very well.

Our destination was Ghost Rock Winery,  about 8 miles from here.  It is absolutely lovely.

As in New Zealand, "cellar door" means tasting room.  We tasted their wines and selected a nice, dry rose for lunch.

The tasting room overlooks the vineyards, and the coast in the distance.

We splurged and ordered their special lunch platter.  Just gorgeous, and delicious......

Some of the goodies....hard rolls, Pesto,  Artichoke hearts,  Salami slices, Smoked chicken slices, Smoked fish dip,  Pickled onions, Grilled eggplant cubes, pate, 3 chunks gourmet local cheese,
Cheese spread, olives, and local smoked salmon.  We took home a doggie bag.:)

Back home, the "girls" were delighted to see us.

DINNER:  Shrimp and grits.
