April 1, 2016. Wallaby/possum sausage on a culinary island

CAMPGROUND:  Jetty Beach in South Bruny National Park.  Primitive, with pit toilet. $7/night. Right on a private beach.  4 stars
LOCATION:  Bruny Island, south of Hobart, Tanzania, Australia
WEATHER:  Beautiful. Highs about 70

We caught the ferry to Bruny Island.  It is about a 15-minute crossing.  Bruny Island is famous for its culinary offerings.

We first passed the whiskey refinery, but passed on that as it was too early in the day.  Next was Bruny Cheese Company.  It was fantastic.  We did a cheese tasting, while sipping their dark farm ale.  We bought a loaf of bread, still hot from their wood-fired pizza oven, and some delicious cheese.  One iwas aged on Huon pine, then wrapped in grape leaves.

We passed on the Bruny Oyster Farm (too expensive) and  the berry farm(closed for the season), then stopped at the winery for lunch.  After a tasting, we selected a Pinot Noir.  We shared a plate of kransky.....island-smoked wallaby and possum sausages.  Wow!

We decided against the commercial RV park, and found our way to the bottom of the island at a natural park.  We had the beach to ourselves, along with beautiful parrots.

We did some hiking, then made a campfire for atmosphere, and to cook dinner on.

DINNER:  Chili over the fire, with chunks of the bread we bought earlier in the day.
