April 18, 2016. Off to the Barossa

LOCATION:  Lyndoch, South Australia.  Northeast of Adelaide in the Barossa Valley
WEATHER:  Perfect again! Highs in 60s

Today's destination was Lyndoch, in the Barossa Valley.  The Barossa is home of lots of small, family-run wineries, as well as some of the "big boys" like Jacob's Creek.

We took an hour train ride to the fringe of the Barossa, the final train stop ( $1.50!).

We passed through lots of little towns.  We are amazed at the great transportation system.  Then, a bus to Lyndoch, about another 10 miles.  The bus driver told us where to disembark and then we walked about 1 mile to our motel, on a bike/trail trail.

Our motel shares the property with a winery.  (Yes, life is good!). We did a wine-tasting at the chateau, then had delicious goat ragout for lunch in their tea room.

We strolled around the property, with its 30,000 rose plants, then walked to another vineyard for more wine tasting.  The Autumn colors are beautiful.

Back at the hotel, we sipped wine on our balcony.

We reserved rental bikes for tomorrow.  We will stay here 2 nights.

Dinner was in the motel's restaurant.  Quite elegant.  I had smoked pumpkin soup, and George had venison with tagliatelle.

Then.......the final episode of a Downton Abbey!
