March 31, 2016. Walking in the treetops

CAMPGROUND:  Snug Tourist Park. Very nice amenities.  5 stars. $24
LOCATION:  Snug, Tasmania, Australia in southeastern part of the island
WEATHER:  one of the nicest days we have had.  Sunny. Highs in upper 60s

Our destination today  was the Tahine Forest Airwalk. It is in the middle of the Southern Forest.  To get there, we had to take a logging truck road, dodging the potholes.

We walked on this incredible 1000-foot walkway among the top of the 300-foot trees.

It culminated at a cantilever jutting above the river.
Way down!

Then, we took a hike in the forest with the walkway at the top of trees like this one...

We had lunch in the park's cafe, surprisingly good.  We shared a Tasmanian specialty, a small curried scallop pie.  All around us were Chinese tourists.  I don't understand how these thin, tiny  people can eat so much!  I watched a group each eating a huge sandwich and salad, plus an appetizer, then a massive bowl of chips (French fries).

We drove north to a little town called Snug.  The campground faces the Huon River.  Very pretty.

DINNER:  Rotisserie chicken, salad and baked pumpkin.
