WEATHER: Perfect. Sunny. Highs about 70
Our destination today was Glenelg Beach. We hopped on our tram and stopped at the railway station to buy visitor metro passes. This will allow us to travel beyond the city limits at a reduced rate.
The beach is beautiful. It must really hop in the summer. The waterfront is lined with beautiful condos and outdoor restaurants.
We found this cute restaurant with a 2nd floor balcony. Great views of the town square and beach below.
We ordered a lamb pizza from their wood-fired pizza oven. I've never had this before. Besides the lamb, it was topped with grilled eggplant, labneh (a kind of strong soft cheese), and dukkah. Dukkah is a popular Australian nut and herb mix. I actually bought some at the farmers' market. It has sesame seeds, cumin, ground almonds and other spices. A popular way to eat it is as an appetizer.......Dip a piece of French bread into some good olive oil, then into the dukkah.
We enjoyed watching the people below.
We strolled along, window-shopping, then made our way to downtown Adelaide, and then tram back home.
Our neighbor had kindly set up a dinner party for us at a friend's house. This couple had taught 10 years in inner-city New York, so had many interesting stories. Our neighbor made curry. I took a cheese platter. It was a very nice evening.
Mello was ecstatic to see us return.
