Day 209. March 3, 2014. Day tripping around central Texas

LOCATION: another day in Kerrville, TX, about 50 miles NW from San Antonio

WEATHER: high of 40.  Cold in AM...around 19. Mostly cloudy

Read and did little jobs inside while it warmed up a bit.  We drove to nearby Boerne for some sight-seeing.  It is a German town.  Cute.  We had lunch at a brewpub.  We had  a big soft pretzel with spicy mustard and sausage.

Then we drove to a village of 25 people that has a cute winery.  It is in an old cotton gin.

Back at the campground, we took a hike.  The park provides walking sticks, in part to supposedly ward off mountain lions.  Then we made a campfire while it was still light and sunny.  I grilled a ham steak for dinner.

Then, inside, I made a risotto and steamed asparagus ($1.00/pound).  Pretty gourmet!
