February 4, 2015. Back to Mexico

CAMPGROUND:  Still at Turquoise Valley RV park in SE Arizona
WEATHER:  Another beautiful day. Highs around 70

We rode our bikes over to the border, parked them, and walked across.  This time, there was a bit more security. A guard asked me to press a button.  It turned green, so he ushered us through.  Had it been red, they would have asked for our passports. Kind of like Russian roulette.

We went back to the little restaurant we had found last time.  On the posted menu "huaraches" were listed.  Huaraches are Mexican sandals, so I asked the waitress what the food item is.  She explained that it is a tortilla spread with beans, meat, lettuce and avocado slices.  It looks kind of like a sandal, so they named it huaraches.  We split it...lots of food!

It came with an even bigger condiment platter than before, this time with chips.  We said we like spicy foods, so the cook added roasted jalapeños and green onions to the plate.  All of this plus 2 beers were $9.

Then, we walked across the street for George's dentist appointment.  He had his teeth cleaned for less than $45.

We strolled around. I asked a guy where I could buy tortillas, and he directed me to a place where they make flour ones.  The young boy manning the shop kindly split the package, as I don't know what we would have done with 60!

Back at the RV park, George climbed on top of the Air Stream, to try to repair the cracks around the air vent which has caused leaks.  I am always afraid he will fall off.

Then, we walked to the golf course clubhouse  where 2 women performed....one is a cowgirl poet and the other a songwriter.  It was very nice.

DINNER:   Pasta with onions, garlic, mushrooms, capers, and Parmesan.  Time to go shopping again  for something to grill.
