March 11, 2015. We love Idlyllwild!

CAMPGROUND: Second night at Mt. San Jacinto State Park
LOCATION:  South central California in the mountains
WEATHER:  Very pleasant. Highs in 60s

We took a nature trail hike, then back to the village.  There are many cute restaurants.  After climbing a road through town, we stopped at a cute pub.  We had a delicious bowl of gourmet macaroni and cheese.  Then, back through town to do some shopping.  This little town has everything....museums, active theatre group, library, movie theatre, hardware store. We stopped at a bakery to buy a cheddar cheese scone for dinner.

Back at the campground, George continued to work on the camper.

We met a neighbor camper, a great gal traveling alone.  We invited her to join us at the town's wine bar. They had live music.  The place was jumping, with mostly locals.  Really cool atmosphere.

DINNER: I warmed up leftover chili, and we ate it with the scone. We paired it with a Pinot Noir left over from the wine bar sipping.

  1. Karmen: Do you remember being here in 1969? When we were visiting your grandparents in Hemet, CA they drove us to Idyllwild. I remember it as being in the mountains away from the city & it was quaint.
