August 13, 2015. Kale chip preparation day

LOCATION:  Near Ukiah, California in NW part of state
WEATHER:  Another beautiful day. Highs around 80

Thursday, today, begins prep days for the weekend markets.  There is another housesitter here, a lovely Brazilian lady named Paola.  She and I picked tomatoes while George picked kale.

Then, he started preparing the kale to make into chips.  The recipe includes sunflower seeds, tamari, olive oil, and brewers' yeast.  He coats the kale leaves with that mixture, then places the chips in the dehydrator to dry.  It takes most of the day.

Then, once fully dehydrated, he removes.

Paola and I then weighed and packaged the chips. The kale really shrinks.    A lot of work for $2 bags!

DINNER:  Every meal includes goodies from the garden.  I made a stir-fry with chicken sausage, onions, garlic, tomatoes, basil, and greens.  I served it with pasta and sprinkled with goat cheese.
