August 7, 2015. Lassen Dark Sky Festival

CAMPGROUND:  Last night at Manzanita Lake
LOCATION:  Lassen National Park in NE California
WEATHER:  Another lovely day. Highs around 70

The Lassen Dark Sky Festival began in the park.  There are astronomy-related activities all day for 3 days and nights.  Many people are here in the park specifically to attend the festivities.

We went to a very interesting lecture about tracking TNOs using the occultation method.  Don't I sound smart?!  I didn't understand half of the talk, but little kids (mostly Asian) asked really intelligent questions.

We stopped at the information booths, looking at the sun through special telescopes.

After a picnic lunch, we hiked a trail, then watched a movie about the light pollution.

Today marks 2 years on the road.  We celebrated by opening a special bottle of wine we had bought at a winery on Bainbridge Island.

DINNER: Omelette with everything but the kitchen sink....onions, garlic, broccoli, wieners, cheese, and corn.
