August 16, 2015. Redwood Valley Farmers' Market

LOCATION:  Near Ukiah, California in NW part of state
WEATHER:  HOT!!  Highs 100+.  No breeze.

Another early morning loading up to go to the farmers' market.  This one in Redwood Valley is much smaller, so we took less of everything.  We were more organized than yesterday.  The market was slow.  The other vendors commented on the lack of customers.

We sold most of the salad mix, and brought a little home to eat.  Two musicians provided background music.  Mostly Brazilian jazz.  Very classy.  Paola loved the music.  She used to sing in a band.

The kale chips are always popular.

At the end of the morning, we swapped fruit and veg with other vendors.  Everyone is so nice.  We also "tipped" the musicians with some extra cherry tomatoes.

We returned directly to the farm to escape from the heat.   We napped and read in the afternoon.  Too hot to do anything else.

DINNER:  I found a recipe online to use up a lot of veg:  zucchini, tomatoes, green peppers, onions,  and garlic.  I diced up the veg, drizzled it with olive oil and lemon.  Added some dried thyme and oregano.  Baked about 15 minutes.  Then added small pieces of Parmesan, and fresh parsley and basil.  Baked another 15 minutes.  Really good!

  1. Do you know how to make ratatiuille? It is a great way to use up zucchini, eggplant, onions, peppers and tomatoes. Good hot or cold, so nice on hot days with grilled meat or omelettes.p
