Day 172. January 25, 2014. Daughter Alexis arrives

We stayed again with our friend Heather in Austin.  We went to the farmers' market.  Lots of interesting    booths.  We bought some greens and a vegan Indian dish for Alexis.

We went to a microbrewery/BBQ for lunch, then toured the city some.

George and I went to an airport hotel  where we are staying one night to be close to airport when Alexis arrives. For dinner, we found a fun country-western restaurant called Patsy's Cowgirl Cafe.  They had a Texan band and people danced around the tables.  We had an appetizer called Texan bottle caps....fried jalapeño slices in little circles, and chicken as main course.

Alexis was scheduled to arrive at 8:00, but she missed her connection in Chicago.  So, she had to catch a later flight via Dallas.  She ended up arriving at round 12:30 AM.  Just glad she made it.

  1. aaaahhh Austin. One of my favorite places. You guys should try to catch a show at the Alamo Draft House on East 6th Street. Don't worry if the movie stinks - the in-show beer, food menu and atmosphere makes up for it. Also, get in line at Franklin's BBQ. Even if you don't like BBQ... just to say you did it!! Have fun and stay weird.
