September 17, 2015. Excited to explore Bend, Oregon

CAMPGROUND:  Thousand Hills Bend/Sunriver RV Resort.  2 stars.  Private sites.  Decent bathrooms. Electricity and water, no sewer.  Way overpriced.  $40/night
LOCATION:  Bend, Oregon in south central part of state
WEATHER:  Cloudy.  Spotty rain. Highs in 60s

The landscape was full of redwood trees, with low clouds hanging in the Shasta Mountains.  We crossed over to Oregon.  Gas prices went from $3.29/gallon to $2.54/gallon.  We were on empty, watching for the lowest gas station prices.  Drives me crazy.

We stopped in pleasant Klamath Falls, OR for lunch at a prewbub.  Then on to Bend.  I started looking for RV parks and public campgrounds.  Everything was full!  Disappointed, we reserved this one, the only one I could find with vacancies.  It is about 12 miles out of town.

There are furry, tame bunny rabbits hopping all over this RV park!  Someone must have left a domesticated pet that bred with wild rabbits.  They are in all colors, and look more like fat cats than rabbits.

Due to fire concerns, we can't make a campfire here.  I'll have to plan menus cooking inside.

We headed toward Bend with intentions to go to one of their ~20 brewpubs for happy hour.  We took a detour and ended up in a darling resort community called Sunriver instead.  Besides the resort with a lodge, cabins, bike paths and a golf course, there is a "village" with cute shops, restaurants, and yes, a brewpub. It reminds me of the resorts in "Up North" Minnesota.  Very woodsy.  We tried one of their beers then came home.  We"ll wait until tomorrow to start exploring Bend.  We will stay here 3or 4 nights.

DINNER:  Starter was sliced heirloom tomatoes again with oil and vinegar drizzle.  Main course was Sautéed  shrimp with artichoke hearts, capers and a small amount of tomato sauce, served over rice, and topped with goat cheese. No rabbit, although George did ask......
