Day 182. February 4, 2014. Corpus Christi

It rained during the night and was blustery in the AM.  The campers next to us were 3 local Texas guys, here to fish on the lake.  Their shelter blew down in the night, but they were up early catching fish.

We decided it was a good day for a drive.  We drove through Corpus Christi to Padre Island National Seashore, checking it out for our possible next stop.  Corpus Christi is a big oil refinery city and huge Naval  base.  We  saw a gigantic aircraft carrier, the USS Lexington.  We drove on to Mustang Island and Port Aransas.  I counted about 25 cars with MN license plates.  This must be a popular place for wintering......straight down Interstate 35.

What a difference sun and 15 degrees make!  When we returned to the campground, it was just beautiful.  George went fishing (no luck again), and I watched about 10 deer munching on grass next to our site.

George scrounged some firewood from the campers who left yesterday

We made a nice fire and I sautéed onions over the campfire.  I try to cook outside as much as possible.

We watched the sun set over the lake.
For dinner, I made pasta with the onions and leftover rotisserie chicken.  I added peas and a small dollop of cream cheese to create a light sauce.
