January 11, 2015. South Padre Island Sunday

CAMPGROUND: 2nd night Isla Blanca Park
WEATHER:  Mostly cloudy. High around 60

The weather improved today so we got outside to enjoy.  We walked around the huge campground.  Unlike last year, there are a lot of empty spaces.  We have heard that many "regulars" went to Arizona this year, due to the weather.

Our site is just footsteps away from Dirty Al's Seafood Restaurant.  This is the view from our site...
The seagulls are plentiful, in search of restaurant scraps.  Consequently, two have pooped on our truck, much to George's chagrin.  We also found a cat's footprint all over the roof of the truck's back cover.

We enjoyed muffalettas for lunch, from muffaletta mix I had bought while in Louisiana.

Dirty Al's was offering  some Sunday specials, so we walked over.  We split a dozen oysters.  This is the 4th time eating oysters in the last 5 days!  We just can't help eating them when they are cheap and so fresh!

It is kind of a seafood shack, right on the water.  They have a seafood market, too, and we are hoping to buy some fish there one day to make ceviche.

DINNER:  We bought blackened calamari to go at Dirty Al's and brought back to the camper to eat, while we watched 60 Minutes and Downton Abbey.    As sides, I grilled some polenta slices, and made a salad with delicious, cheap avocados.
