WEATHER: Mostly sunny. Highs in 50s
We hiked around the campground and then went for a drive. They call this the "Big Tree" and it certainly is big. It is a 1000+ year-old live oak tree. Beautiful.
We went into town, actually two towns next together...Fulton and Rockport. We split a fish Po-Boy at a seafood/meat smokehouse place for lunch. We ran some errands, then drove along the beach road to gawk at the beautiful homes right on the water. It appears that a tsunami could wipe them all away so easily.
At a seafood market, we bought two filets, one grouper and one red snapper ($7.00) for dinner.
Back at the campground, we hiked some more and chatted with a couple from Minnesota. They said that they come to this campground almost every year, and couldn't believe how empty it is. They guessed that many snowbirds from the Midwest (called jWinter Texans) were postponing their drive down here due to bad weather there.
DINNER: Asian-styled grilled fish. We wrapped the filets in foil packets with sesame oil, ginger slices, onions and garlic, and cooked them on the hibachi. As a side, I made Japanese soba with shiitake mushrooms and green onions. Oishikata!
