Day 64. October 9, 2013. To the beach!

We drove across the state of NC.....from northwestern  mountainous Asheville to southeastern Holden Beach, which is near SC state line.  Took about 7 hours.  We looked for a picnic spot, but couldn't find one, so just parked in a country church parking lot and had chicken salad sandwiches.  Hope the Methodists didn't mind our lunching with them

Holden Beach is lovely.  Not much commercialism, just houses.  During the summer, it gets busy, but we practically have the beach to ourselves, this time of the year.  Tropical Storm Karen is not moving out very fast.  It is cloudy and cool.  We are at a beach house with George's sister Judy (see photo)  and her husband.  Really nice beach house.   I am getting spoiled staying in homes rather than our camper!
