July 13, 2016. Tired feet from Oxford hikes!

LOCATION:  House-sit in Oxford, England
WEATHER:  Mostly sunny. Highs about 70

We hiked about 45 minutes to a small village area with this picture-perfect thatched roof pub called The Perch Inn. We sat outside on the lawn and chatted with a Dutch couple.

Yesterday we walked along the Oxford Canal; today the Thames,  on our way back to town.  We might dock our long boat in front of The Perch when we do our canal trip in September.

We visited one of Oxford's most famous colleges,  Christ Church.  Its 600 students study, live and sleep here.

It is a popular tourist attraction, not only for its beauty, but also because some of the Harry Potter movies were filmed here.  This is the dining hall, set for dinner tonight for some visiting students. It was the model for the movie.

And this is the staircase where Harry and his classmates were welcomed to Hogwarts....

Beautiful courtyard.

Then, we strolled around the city center.  We stopped at the historic The Kings Arms pub, built in 1607.  It is said to serve the most intelligent patrons in the country, accommodating the highest IQ per square foot of any pub or bar in the world.

Back home, we rested our weary feet and played with our cats.

DINNER:  Chicken curry.  In England, they sell jars of prepared curry sauce.  Simple and delicious!
