July 14, 2016. Hiking in the Cotswolds

LOCATION:  House-sitting in Oxford, England
WEATHER:  Perfect for hiking. Highs in 70s. Mostly sunny

We took a 30-minute train ride to Moreton-in-Marsh, a quaint Cotswold town.  We walked around the town, chock-full of  tea and coffee shops and antique stores. Really cute.  We decided to take a hike, which is a popular activity in the Cotswolds.

First we saw this sign directing us.  Who is this elderly person?!?

We walked about 2 miles to an arboretum.  The footpath first took us by some community gardens, called allotments.  They are popular here.

Then the path took us through wheat fields.....

And through pastures with sheep and cows....

We had lunch in the aboretum's cafe and returned to the town.  The walls around this house have little flowers growing on top.

It felt good to rest our feet in a pub for a bit before catching the train back to Oxford.

DINNER:  Tuna and veg in a cream sauce over pasta.
