July 7, 2016. Peak District beauty

LOCATION: House-sitting in Sheffield, England
WEATHER:  Sunny again!  Highs in low 70s

We struck off today to visit the nearby Peak District.  We took a 1-hour bus ride through quaint towns and beautiful rolling hills of farmland, mostly sheep and cows.  I love the old rock walls.

The houses are fantastic, most with tidy English gardens..

Our first stop was a market town called Bakewell.  It is famous for its pudding, which was created by a mistake in the 1800s.  There are several shops, each claiming to serve the original recipe.

Or is this one the original?.....

First things first, we found a pub for lunch.  We shared an entree from the pensioners' menu!

We walked around the town, really cute.  This is a little park in the center.

Then, we got back on the bus for Chatsworth, a famous mansion.  See next post....
