July 5 continued ...York

This is one of the remaining castles....

We hopped off the bus to continue our exploration.  We climbed up this wall, once protecting the city, and walked along the top....

Then, we walked down the wall's step at another gate, called a bar, from the Latin word barrier.

By this time, we were peckish, so we ducked into this cute pub for a cheese & spinach pie.

With fortified tummies, we strolled around downtown.  The massive church dominates the city.

There are cute old buildings everywhere.

Then, train back home to Sheffield where our cats greeted us.  George let the chickens out to stretch their legs.  Then,  another episode of "Call the Midwife".. Life is good!

DINNER:  Spaghetti and meatballs

  1. You can't beat English architecture and Heritage. Fabulous churches, castles dotted everywhere some have been set up as they would have operated in their times with figures from Madame Tussauds and sound tracks playing of noises with smells of horses in the stables, to give a true experience. Absolutely wonderful
